Job summary

Parratech Group is seeking a Site Safety Advisor to support Melbourne projects, ensuring safe delivery of construction and fit-out works. You will work with project leaders and subcontractors to verify critical controls, escalate risks, and uphold the safety management system.

You will review SWMS, conduct inspections, onboard subcontractors, investigate incidents, and drive practical safety outcomes on site, with a focus on maintaining safe work practices and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or higher qualification; equivalent substantial construction safety experience may be considered.
• Current Victoria construction induction card and a current driver licence.
• Demonstrated site-based safety experience within data centre, commercial construction, fit-out, building services or related sector.
• Knowledge of Victorian OH&S Act 2004 and OH&S Regulations 2017, codes and SWMS requirements.
• Ability to review SWMS and risk controls, investigate incidents, coach supervisors and engage respectfully with subcontractors and frontline workers.
• Sound report writing and competence with digital safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Partner with project and site teams during mobilisation, prestart planning, daily coordination and changes to scope, sequence or site conditions.
• Review project risk assessments, site safety plans and SWMS for high-risk construction work; ensure workers understand and follow controls.
• Conduct planned site inspections and critical control checks for heights, scaffolds, lifting, powered plant, traffic, electrical work, isolation, hot work, hazardous substances and silica exposure.
• Assist with subcontractor onboarding and verification of inductions, licences, competencies and documents.
• Submit client documentation requests into reporting contractor and client reporting systems.
• Facilitate site inductions, toolbox talks, and consultations with workers, safety reps and subcontractors; communicate lessons clearly.
• Identify unsafe conditions and emerging risks; agree actions and verify controls are working.
• Respond to incidents and near misses, preserve information, support investigations and follow up actions.
• Assist with emergency readiness, first aid, drills and coordination with principal contractor and client.
• Maintain accurate site records, inspection findings, incident data and assurance reports; provide trends to leadership.
• Escalate imminent or serious risk and support stopping unsafe work until controls are established.
