Job summary

Independence School District is seeking an Assistant Head Custodian to help maintain a safe, clean school environment across multiple facilities. Responsibilities include supervising duties in absence of the head custodian, ensuring HVAC and alarm systems function, and coordinating custodial staff for daily operations.

Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to lift 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks including standing for long periods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop and push; moderate to heavy physical exertion.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Basic computer skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assumes head custodian duties in absence of head custodian.
• Inspects HVAC and alarm systems and checks for vandalism.
• Cleans assigned areas and processes work requests.
• Sets up cafeteria for breakfast when applicable.
• Performs lawn care and snow removal as needed.
• Maintains supply inventory and handles deliveries.
• Coordinates custodial duties and schedules staff.
• Executes minor repairs and prepares for special events.
• Requires on-call weekends, nights and holidays for emergencies.
