Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking an experienced OHS Business Partner to provide expert health and safety support across the organisation, strengthening psychosocial safety and safety culture.

Reporting to the Team Leader - Occupational Health and Safety, you will work with leaders and staff to drive compliance, risk management and continuous improvement in workplace safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline and/or significant relevant experience.
  • Experience implementing psychosocial hazard frameworks and workplace wellbeing initiatives.
  • Demonstrated capability conducting audits, inspections and risk assessments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, coaching and influencing skills.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and creating positive safety outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage psychosocial hazard initiatives and workplace wellbeing programs.
  • Conduct inspections and compliance audits across Council operations.
  • Coordinate emergency management planning and preparedness activities.
  • Provide expert advice on legislative compliance and risk management.

Job Description

Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fifth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing, transport and health care. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 69,000 and is culturally rich with 17.4% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking an experienced OHS Business Partner to join our People and Development team. This newly focused role provides specialist health and safety expertise across the organisation, leading initiatives that strengthen psychosocial safety, compliance, emergency preparedness and workplace safety culture.

Working closely with leaders, employees and Health and Safety Representatives, you will help drive key projects relating to psychosocial hazard management, workplace inspections and audits, emergency management, risk assessments and continuous improvement of Council's safety management systems.

In this diverse and rewarding position, you will:

  • Lead and support psychosocial hazard management initiatives and workplace wellbeing programs.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and compliance audits across Council's varied operations.
  • Coordinate emergency management planning, reviews and preparedness activities.
  • Provide expert advice to leaders on legislative compliance and risk management.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline and/or significant relevant experience.
