Job summary

Barminco, part of the Perenti Group, seeks a Purchasing Officer at Hazelmere Head Office on an 8-month fixed-term contract. You will procure goods, expedite POs, and ensure accurate receipts for invoice matching, building strong supplier relationships and improving service delivery.

Ideal candidates will have 2+ years in procurement or purchasing, strong organisational skills, and proficiency in MS Office and Pronto ERP.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain or admin.
• Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
• Experience using Pronto ERP for purchasing, inventory management and costing (highly regarded).
• Ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the business.
• Positive, customer-focused stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Procure goods and services per company policies and schedules.
• Expedite purchase orders and follow up deliveries, credits and queries.
• Ensure orders are receipted accurately for invoice matching.
• Build positive relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
• Review supplier performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Assist users with procurement system enquiries and PO processes.
• Resolve PO discrepancies and supplier issues.
• Ensure approvals and coding are applied to purchases.
• Review warehouse stock before placing orders.
• Report supplier issues to Contracts Team.
• Maintain compliance with HSEQ requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in Supply.

About Our Role

We're seeking an organised and proactive Purchasing Officer to join our Supply team at our Hazelmere Head Office on an 8-month fixedt term contract. Reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor , you will play a key role in supporting operational success through the procurement and expediting of goods and services, ensuring parts and materials are delivered on time and purchase orders are completed accurately.

What will your day-to-day look like?

• Procure goods and services in accordance with company policies, procedures and procurement schedules.
• Expedite purchase orders and follow up outstanding deliveries, credits and supplier queries.
• Ensure orders are receipted accurately and are ready for invoice matching and processing.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
• Continuously review supplier performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved service delivery.
• Assist users with procurement system enquiries, parts catalogues and purchase order processes.
• Support the resolution of purchase order discrepancies and supplier issues.
• Ensure appropriate approvals and coding allocations are applied to all purchases.
• Review warehouse stock availability before placing external orders.
• Communicate supplier performance issues, warranty matters and delivery concerns to the Contracts Team.
• Maintain compliance with Barminco's Health, Safety, Environment and Quality requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Supply function.

Our ideal candidate background includes

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a procurement, purchasing, supply chain or administration role.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.

Qualifications

• Current Class C Driver's Licence.
• TEE, TAFE or equivalent qualification.
• Certificate or Diploma in Procurement and Supply (desirable).
• Professional accreditation or membership with organisations such as CIPS or APICS (desirable).
