ASX, Australia’s leading securities exchange, invites applications for an Officer, Clearing Operations on a 12 Month Max Term Contract in Sydney. You will support clearing, settlement, margin management, and collateral activities essential to ASX’s market infrastructure.

The role requires 1–2 years in clearing/settlement or related operations, with knowledge of margining and derivatives lifecycles. Hybrid working options are available, with background checks as part of onboarding.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience in clearing/settlement/treasury ops or financial markets ops.
• Strong understanding of margining and cash settlement for cleared products.
• Analytical approach to issue investigation and solutioning.
• Knowledge of derivatives lifecycles from trade capture to expiry/settlement.
• Ability to streamline processes to reduce operational risk.

Responsibilities

• Understand and operate ASX clearing/settlement systems including Calypso, Genium, DCS/MCM, Austraclear, Markitwire and internal apps.
• Process full product cycle for exchange traded and OTC derivatives - listing, expiries, settlements.
• Complete clearing operational tasks following procedures and checklists.
• Support treasury team in settling deals and engaging with investment counterparties.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce risk and improve customer experience.
• Review corporate actions adjustments on ETO products.
• Engage with stakeholders including clearing participants, counterparties, and regulators.
• Manage stakeholder queries in line with ASX Customer Communication Principles.

Your Team

The Clearing Operations team, part of Market Operations, is responsible for the day-to-day clearing, settlement, margin and collateral management activities that underpin ASX's financial market infrastructure. The team supports market participants, manages critical operational processes and contributes to the safe, efficient and resilient operation of Australia's clearing and settlement services.

Your responsibilities

• Understand and operate the ASX's clearing and settlement systems including Calypso, Genium, DCS/MCM, Austraclear, Markitwire and internal ASX clearing & settlement applications.
• Understand cleared derivatives product and process the full product cycle of exchange traded and over the counter contracts - listing, expiries and settlements
• Complete all clearing operational tasks following all procedures and checklists
• Support ASX treasury team in settling deals and being proactive with investment counterparties
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce operational risk, enhance the customer experience and develop technical change
• Review and implement corporate actions adjustments on ETO products
• Engage and service a diverse range of stakeholders inclusive of clearing participants, investment counterparties, and ASX regulators
• Manage stakeholder queries ensuring alignment with the ASX Customer Communication Principles

Your experience and qualifications

Must have

• One to two years’ experience in a clearing, settlement, treasury operations, custody, securities services, or financial markets operations environment.
• Strong understanding of margining frameworks and cash settlement processes across cleared products.
• Analytical experience involving the investigation of issues and problems, identifying and documenting solutions.
• Demonstrated knowledge of exchange-traded and cleared OTC derivatives, with a strong understanding of product lifecycles from trade capture through to expiry and settlement.
• Streamlined processes and tasks to reduce operational risk and increase efficiency
• Strong Operational risk and control discipline

Nice to have

• Experience with Austraclear, Calypso, SWIFT or similar market infrastructure platforms.
• Knowledge of Collateral Management, margining and settlement operations.
• Knowledge of Australian fixed income and repo markets.
• SQL Knowledge & Macro (excel) knowledge
• Ability to work effectively in deadline driven operational environments.
