Job summary

UNSW is seeking a Graduate Director to lead the integrated researcher development program across five universities, spanning PhD students and early to mid-career researchers. You will mentor HDR cohorts, coordinate interdisciplinary training, and foster industry links to enhance career progression and research impact.

The role is a fixed-term, full-time appointment based in Sydney with a start date in February 2027.

Qualifications

PhD in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
Proven mentorship and professional development for HDR students at scale.
Track record of leadership and building collaborations across institutions.

Responsibilities

Lead and implement the Centre’s interdisciplinary Researcher Development Program in Oceanography.
Provide mentoring to students and early career researchers.
Design learning activities and resources for post-graduate students and researchers.
Develop industry links and support work-integrated learning opportunities.
Coordinate training programs including winter schools, writing workshops, and technical sessions.
Contribute to recruitment, retention, and equity initiatives across HDR cohorts.
Lead Centre meetings and seek external funding to support programs.
