Job summary

Bermagui Beach Hotel is seeking a hands-on Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in leading our pub kitchen team. You will deliver high-volume, fresh-food service by the ocean and mentor the team to uphold exceptional standards.

You’ll plan menus, help estimate costs, order supplies, and ensure food hygiene safety while coordinating with front-of-house to create a seamless guest experience. This role rewards leadership and teamwork with a passion for seasonal ingredients.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years Sous Chef experience in a high-volume food-led venue.
Committed to the best standards of food preparation and service.
Experience with seasonal fresh food.
Knowledge and experience of kitchen food safety systems.
Can work under pressure and is an excellent team player.
Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Lead service and ensure consistency and high-quality food standards.
Support planning menus, estimating food and labour costs, and ordering supplies.
Mentor kitchen staff and contribute to training and development.
Uphold food hygiene safety standards.
Foster collaboration between kitchen and front of house.
Monitor quality of dishes at various stages of preparation and presentation.
