Job description

At Avina, we're a national allied health and behaviour support organisation with 400+ clinicians supporting communities across South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

We deliver Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Positive Behaviour Support, Physiotherapy, Psychology and Dietetics across the lifespan, with a focus on meaningful, person-centred support.

Our Values Guide How We Work

Progressive | Curious | Respectful | Collaborative | Informed | Purposeful

About the Role We're looking for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our established multidisciplinary team based from our Elizabeth Vale clinic.

This is an opportunity to continue doing the clinical work you enjoy while taking a more active role in mentoring, supporting and developing other clinicians.

Our Elizabeth Vale caseload is predominantly paediatric and youth (around 85–90%), with a smaller adult component. You'll manage a varied and more complex caseload across clinic, home, school and community settings, generally supporting participants within approximately 30 minutes of Elizabeth Vale and surrounding northern Adelaide areas.

As a Senior OT, you'll also bring your experience to the wider team through clinical mentoring, supervision, case discussions and shared learning, while continuing to develop your own areas of clinical interest.

A Team You'll Actually Feel Part Of

Elizabeth Vale is home to a close-knit team of 9 clinicians who describe their culture as kind, fun and determined.

You’ll work alongside Speech Pathology and other allied health colleagues, with existing specialist knowledge across feeding, communication, emotional and sensory regulation and home modifications.

The team connects regularly through weekly meetings, Communities of Practice and multidisciplinary discussions, creating plenty of opportunity to bounce around ideas, share different perspectives and work collaboratively around participants.

There's also a strong social connection – think morning teas, coffee catch-ups, lunches, birthday celebrations and plenty of office banter.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver person-centred Occupational Therapy across clinic, home, school and community settings
  • Manage a varied and more complex caseload, predominantly across paediatric and youth presentations
  • Complete functional assessments, intervention planning and ongoing therapy
  • Work across areas such as sensory and emotional regulation, functional capacity, home modifications and capacity building
  • Provide mentoring, clinical supervision and support to developing clinicians
  • Contribute your experience to case discussions, peer learning and multidisciplinary collaboration
  • Work closely with participants, families, carers, educators and other allied health professionals
  • Continue developing your own clinical and leadership capability
Why Join Avina?
  • Genuine senior clinical opportunity – mentor others without stepping away from clinical practice
  • An established Elizabeth Vale clinic and multidisciplinary team
  • Strong paediatric caseload with opportunities to broaden your clinical experience
  • Regular clinical supervision and strong peer support
  • Opportunities to influence and support the development of other cliniciansFlexible working arrangements and autonomy over your day
  • Internal professional development, peer learning and Communities of Practice
  • Equipment provided, including phone, laptop and tablet
  • Travel reimbursement per kilometre
  • Achievable KPIs designed to support sustainable workloads and work-life balance
  • Ongoing clinical, leadership and career development opportunities

For those interested, there may also be opportunities to support regional South Australian communities through FIFO/DIDO arrangements, with travel and accommodation covered by Avina.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor or Master of Occupational Therapy
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Significant clinical experience, ideally within disability and/or paediatric practice
  • Experience managing more complex presentations and assessments
  • Experience mentoring, supervising or supporting developing clinicians is highly regarded
  • Strong clinical judgement, communication and organisational skills
  • A collaborative and person-centred approach to practice
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain
  • Driver's licence and reliable vehicle for community work
  • Full working rights in Australia

If you're an experienced OT looking to stay connected to clinical practice while mentoring others and having greater influence within your team, we'd love to hear from you.
