Job summary

Queensland Health in partnership with Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service seeks an experienced occupational therapist to advance rural generalist practice across the Tablelands and Mossman region, delivering high-level clinical and consultancy services to a diverse caseload in a rural setting.

You will lead service delivery, coordinate teams, and contribute to safety, quality, and outreach initiatives to improve patient outcomes across rural and remote communities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advanced level rural generalist occupational therapy clinical and consultancy services across the broad spectrum of presentations with infrequent supervision, to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
• Provide active leadership to oversee and coordinate Tablelands and Mossman occupational therapy clinical service delivery, including planning and quality improvement activities.
• Provide expert advice and contribute to professional knowledge at local and state levels regarding rural generalist occupational therapy practice with stakeholders as required.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will…

• Deliver advanced level rural generalist occupational therapy clinical and consultancy services across the broad spectrum of presentations and independently deliver specialty services to a complex, non-routine and varied caseload spanning multiple areas of occupational therapy practice with infrequent clinical practice supervision, to facilitate optimal and safe patient outcomes and facilitate patient flow.
• Provide active leadership to oversee and co-ordinate Tablelands and Mossman occupational therapy clinical service delivery, including initiation, planning and evaluation of quality, safety, and service improvement activities, to audit, monitor and improve occupational therapy service quality and patient outcomes.
• Provide expert advice and contribute to the professional body of knowledge at local and state levels regarding operational and clinical aspects of rural generalist occupational therapy and allied health practice through active involvement and influence in professional associations, advisory groups and consultative forums, and to professional and operational supervisors, relevant service managers and other stakeholders as required.
