Job summary

Bureau of Meteorology is seeking a Project Delivery Technician to lead the technical delivery of its observing networks sustainment and upgrade program. The role sits within the Infrastructure Delivery team and focuses on sustaining critical observing network assets across Australia.

The successful candidate will apply advanced skills in instrumentation, installation and commissioning, contribute to project planning and risk management, and undertake fieldwork to support upgrades nationwide.

Qualifications

  • Advanced practical and technical skills in instrumentation, configuration, installation, troubleshooting and commissioning of observing and monitoring equipment.
  • Contributes to project planning and risk management, undertakes workshop-based preparation activities and field work to support the delivery of network upgrades and sustainment activities nationally.
  • Ability to anticipate operational issues, develop practical solutions, and coordinate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical delivery of the Bureau’s observing networks annual sustainment and upgrade program.
  • Work on site at one of the Bureau’s national technical workshops; equipment ordering, dispatch, assembly, system testing, field installation and commissioning across Australia.
  • Collaborate with technical specialists, contractors and operational teams to ensure safe, timely and efficient delivery of network sustainment projects.
