Job summary

Somerset Private Hospital, part of Cura Day Hospitals Group, is seeking an experienced perioperative nurse to join as Nurse Unit Manager (Anaesthetic/Recovery). This full-time maternity relief role leads the Anaesthetic/Recovery team, mentors staff, and focuses on theatre efficiency and patient outcomes in a high-paced environment.

Ideal candidates will have strong leadership and extensive Anaesthetic/Recovery background, with registration and compliance experience.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced perioperative nurse with a strong Anaesthetic/Recovery background. Ideally, the successful candidate will have demonstrated experience as a Nurse Unit Manager or have strong clinical leadership experience in a Floor Coordinator role.

The role is a full-time, 12-month maternity relief position and would be a great development opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or Floor Coordinator looking to step into a leadership role and further develop their management skills.

As Nurse Unit Manager, you will lead our Anaesthetic/Recovery team, mentor and support staff development, drive theatre efficiency, and play a key role in delivering outstanding patient care within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key experience we're seeking includes:

• Anaesthetic/Recovery nursing experience
• Demonstrated NUM or clinical leadership experience
• Experience across Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Plastics, Dental and Ophthalmology
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Registration with AHPRA
• A minimum 5 years Anaesthetic/Recovery Experience.
• Previous experience in a NUM role
• Working knowledge of Industrial Relations Acts, regulations and other relevant statutory obligations
• Knowledge of the regulation of health care professionals
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 Accreditation
• Understanding of contemporary clinical practice
• Knowledge of the ANMC Competency standards for Registered Nurses
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• National Criminal Record Check
• Working with Children Check
