Job summary

Healthcare Australia is seeking a highly skilled Urology Nurse Practitioner to join a leading South Australian health service. This role offers high clinical autonomy, advanced practice, and collaboration with medical and allied health teams across the patient journey.

Qualifications

• Holds, or is eligible to hold, current Nurse Practitioner endorsement with AHPRA.
• At least 3 years post-registration nursing experience.
• Advanced nursing practice within Urology or related specialty.
• Ability to work autonomously within a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive urological assessments, including history and exam.
• Provide advanced clinical management across the urological care pathway.
• Manage complex urological conditions and presentations.
• Develop, implement and review individualized treatment plans.
• Order and interpret pathology and diagnostic tests within scope.
• Advise on urological symptoms, options and ongoing care.
• Support patients pre- and post-operatively and in ongoing care.
• Educate patients and families on treatment, meds and self-management.
• Collaborate with Urologists, Medical Officers and allied health staff.
• Contribute to protocols, care models, quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
• Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to nursing colleagues.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to work at an advanced level of nursing practice, with a high degree of clinical autonomy and decision-making while collaborating closely with medical, nursing and allied health teams. As a Urology Nurse Practitioner, your responsibilities may include:

• Conducting comprehensive urological assessments, including patient history and physical examination
• Providing advanced clinical management for patients across the urological care pathway
• Assessing and managing patients with complex urological conditions and presentations
• Developing, implementing and reviewing individualised treatment and management plans
• Requesting and interpreting appropriate pathology and diagnostic investigations within scope of practice
• Providing expert advice regarding urological symptoms, treatment options and ongoing management
• Supporting patients through pre-operative, post-operative and ongoing urological care
• Managing and educating patients with urinary and continence-related concerns
• Providing education and support to patients and families regarding treatment, procedures, medications and self-management
• Working collaboratively with Urologists, Medical Officers, Nurses and Allied Health professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Contributing to clinical protocols, models of care, quality improvement and evidence-based practice
• Providing clinical leadership, education and mentorship to nursing colleagues
• Supporting the development and evaluation of services within the urology specialty

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse who:

• Holds, or is eligible to hold, current Nurse Practitioner endorsement with AHPRA
• Has at least 3 years’ post-registration experience
• Has demonstrated advanced nursing practice within Urology or a closely related specialty
• Is confident working autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
• Demonstrates strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
• Has excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving abilities
• Is committed to evidence-based practice, education and continuous improvement
