Job summary

Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service in Parkville, VIC is seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner to join the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service for a 12-month parental leave backfill. The role involves advanced mental health assessment, treatment planning and care coordination for young people within Victoria's Youth Justice system.

You will work across Parkville, Cherry Creek and Malmsbury Youth Justice Precincts with a multidisciplinary team, delivering

Qualifications

• Current registration and endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Substantial experience in advanced mental health clinical practice, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of complex presentations.
• Strong clinical reasoning, consultation and leadership skills, with ability to work autonomously and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally safe and developmentally appropriate care.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building across complex service systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced mental health assessment, diagnostic formulation, treatment planning and clinical management for young people with complex needs.
• Practise autonomously and collaboratively within Nurse Practitioner scope, including prescribing and care coordination.
• Provide expert clinical supervision, leadership and support to multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate with young people, families and partner services to support recovery and transitions from custody to community.
• Contribute to supervision, education, service development and quality improvement initiatives.
