Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking a Nurse Educator (Grade 3) to lead the education and training function for the Forensic Mental Health Unit at Concord. The role focuses on shaping workforce development and delivering a strategic educational program to enhance clinical capability.

The successful candidate will oversee educational resources, reports, and learning opportunities, with a strong emphasis on quality patient care and professional growth within Sydney Education.

Qualifications

• Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as Registered Nurse or Midwife with post‑registration qualifications or equivalent.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice.
• Ability to produce high-quality written educational resources, evaluation reports and related documents.
• Comprehensive understanding of local and state health education and training priorities.

We are offering a permanent opportunity to lead the education and training function for the Burudyara Concord Forensic Mental Health Unit, a modern and expanding service within the Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program.

About the Role

Sydney Education is the education and training service for SLHD. Sydney Education provides a wide range of development opportunities to both the clinical and non-clinical workforce. Our broad portfolios include, Professional Practice, Clinical Practice and Safety, Transition to Practice, Education Support Services, Patient and Family Experience and Medical Education.

Sydney Education is also a major delivery site of the NSW Health RTO and provide a wide range of nationally recognised vocational education and training programs and qualifications.

This pivotal role will drive workforce development, build educational capability, and support high-quality patient care across a service comprising 18 medium secure and 24 low secure forensic mental health beds located at the Concord Centre for Mental Health. As the service transitions into its next phase of operation, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a strategic education agenda that supports staff capability, professional growth, and excellence in forensic mental health care.

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as Registered Nurse/Midwife and relevant post registration nursing/midwifery clinical or education qualifications or qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer.
• Commitment to professional development of self and others including reflective practice and the ability to identify areas for growth.
• Ability to produce high quality written documents including educational resources, evaluation reports and other documents.
• Comprehensive understanding of health education and training priorities at a local and state level.
