Descripción del empleo

This organisation is a market leader in the design and manufacture of pick-and-carry cranes, with more than 40 years in the industry and the backing of a global equipment manufacturing group. Their customers rely on equipment that performs, and an aftermarket service team that can keep it performing.

An opportunity is now available for an experienced Service Manager to lead their NSW service operation. If you know heavy equipment, understand what makes a workshop profitable and can bring out the best in a technical team, this role deserves your attention.

The Position

Based in Wetherill Park and reporting to the National Service Manager, you will take responsibility for the NSW workshop and field service operation. Your focus will be on delivering safe, efficient and high-quality service, keeping customers informed and ensuring the operation meets its financial and performance objectives.

You will lead the people, coordinate the workload and keep a close eye on the commercial side of the business. Some of the responsibilities encountered in this role include:

Manage workshop and field service activities, including scheduled maintenance, repairs, inspections and major crane inspections.

Plan workloads, allocate technicians and resources, and coordinate repair schedules to meet promised completion dates.

Oversee equipment assessments, repair scopes and estimates, ensuring jobs are accurately costed before invoicing.

Build strong customer relationships, conduct site visits and ensure service enquiries and issues are addressed promptly and professionally.

Monitor work in progress, labour utilisation, parts consumption, job costs and profitability against established KPIs.

Work closely with Parts, Purchasing and Product Support to ensure technicians have the materials and technical information required.

Lead, mentor and develop team leaders, technicians, apprentices and support staff, including recruitment, training and performance reviews.

Maintain workshop, tooling, service vehicles and equipment standards, while driving safety compliance and continuous improvement.

Maintain accurate service records within the ERP system and contribute to reporting, forecasting and budget preparation.

Occasional domestic travel and reasonable contact outside normal working hours may be required.

Position Requirements

A trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

A minimum of 5 years’ experience in equipment maintenance, product support or a related industry.

A minimum of 3 years’ leadership experience within a service, workshop, manufacturing or operational management role.

Strong technical knowledge of mobile cranes or heavy industrial equipment.

Proven experience managing workshop operations and field service teams.

A commercially minded approach, with experience managing costs, profitability, labour utilisation and operational KPIs.

The ability to lead and develop a technical team, set clear expectations and maintain accountability.

Excellent customer relationship skills, supported by strong communication, negotiation and reporting abilities.

Strong organisation, planning and time management skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

The Offer

The chance to take ownership of a substantial service operation within an established equipment manufacturer. You will have responsibility for the team, the customer experience and the results, giving you a clear opportunity to make your experience count.

The package includes a $170,000 base salary, plus superannuation, a 10% bonus and a twin-cab ute.

If you have the technical background, understand the numbers and know how to get a service team working together, I would like to hear from you.

If you want to be a highly valued member of a professional team.

If you want to go to work motivated by the people you lead and the results you deliver.
