Job summary

NSW Health, through the NSLHD Executive Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital, seeks a privacy specialist to lead privacy matters and information access responses. You will partner with senior leaders to deliver expert guidance and ensure compliant privacy practices within a large health system.

The role demands formal knowledge of privacy laws, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage a high workload while prioritising critical issues across NSW Health’s complex environment.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications, in law or in health information management, and/or demonstrable expert knowledge of privacy laws from relevant experience. Working knowledge of, or be able to demonstrate the ability to gain a working knowledge of, relevant laws and authorities relating to privacy and government information access including the NSW Government Information (Public Access) (GIPA) Act 2009, the NSW Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998, the NSW Health Records Information Privacy Act 2002, and the NSW Health Privacy Manual for Health Information.
• Demonstrated ability to appropriately prioritise matters to effectively manage a high workload to meet legislative and policy requirements.
• Comprehensive analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to provide authoritative advice and recommendations across a large and complex organisation.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior leaders to support delegated decision-making and privacy governance.
• Protect sensitive health information and promote best-practice privacy outcomes across the organisation.

This is a unique opportunity to become the organization’s privacy specialist, working under the leadership of the Director of Legal Services and partnering with senior leaders to provide expert advice, support delegated decision-making, and respond to information access requests and privacy matters.
