Job summary

Sustainable Plastic Solutions in Hamilton, VIC, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep recycling and processing equipment running safely and efficiently. You’ll perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns, and support the production team across afternoon/night shifts.

This role requires mechanical trade experience, strong fault-finding skills, and the ability to work independently with a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• Experience in a mechanical trade or maintenance role.
• Strong general mechanical knowledge and fault-finding skills.
• Experience with pumps, motors, bearings, conveyors and processing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out preventative and scheduled maintenance across the facility.
• Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns and production issues.
• Diagnosing problems with pumps, motors, conveyors and processing equipment.
• General mechanical repairs and maintenance.
• Fabrication and welding work.
• Assisting operators with equipment and process-related issues.
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records.
• Assisting with continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
• Working closely with the afternoon/night shift to ensure a smooth handover.
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised maintenance area.

Sustainable Plastic Solutions – Hamilton VIC

Working largely autonomously and reporting directly to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for keeping our recycling and processing equipment running safely and efficiently. This is a hands‑on maintenance role primarily focused on preventative maintenance, breakdown troubleshooting and supporting our production team during the afternoon/night shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Carrying out preventative and scheduled maintenance across the facility
• Troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns and production issues
• Diagnosing problems with pumps, motors, conveyors and processing equipment
• General mechanical repairs and maintenance
• Fabrication and welding work
• Assisting operators with equipment and process‑related issues
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records
• Assisting with continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
• Working closely with the afternoon/night shift to ensure a smooth handover
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised maintenance area

About you

• Previous experience in a mechanical trade or maintenance role
• Strong general mechanical knowledge
• Experience with pumps, motors, bearings, conveyors and mechanical equipment
• Good fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills
• Fabrication and welding experience highly regarded
• Electrical connect/disconnect experience or relevant qualification highly regarded
• The ability to work independently and prioritise maintenance requirements
• A strong safety focus
