Job summary

Profectus is seeking multiple experienced Lead Network Security Engineers to support operation, maintenance and uplift of network infrastructure for an Australian Government agency. You will plan, implement and operate network services across hardware and virtual environments.

Candidates should have 5+ years in cyber security, experience with firewalls, routers and network management tools, and hold relevant certifications.

Profectus is seeking multiple experienced Lead Network Security Engineers to support the operation, maintenance and uplift of important network infrastructure within an Australian Government agency. You will plan, implement and operate network services and systems across hardware and virtual environments, and assess complex information systems for protection against advanced threats. The work covers network design and configuration, device configuration review, security architecture assessment and system hardening advice.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, implement and operate network services and systems across hardware and virtual environments
• Test and maintain network infrastructure, including software and hardware devices
• Configure and manage protection components, including hardware firewalls, servers and routers
• Assess network security architectures and recommend improvements
• Review network device configurations and recommend changes to improve security
• Apply defence in depth principles in network design and configuration
• Secure network communications across the environment
• Assess critical infrastructure systems using current security toolsets and knowledge of malicious actor techniques, tools and processes
• Provide advice on hardening and defending systems against advanced threats
• Provide feedback on network requirements, architecture and infrastructure
• Analyse network traffic patterns using network management tools
• Explain technical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years experience in a cyber security role
• Experience implementing, maintaining and assessing established network practices and recommending improvements
• Experience configuring and using hardware firewalls, servers, routers and other protection components
• Experience assessing network security architectures and applying defence in depth
• Experience reviewing network device configurations and recommending security improvements
• Demonstrated experience securing network communications
• Experience working at a lead or EL1 equivalent level
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols and network security methods
• Knowledge of IT security principles and methods, including firewalls, demilitarised zones and encryption
• Experience using network management tools to analyse and interpret network traffic
• Experience explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences, in writing and verbally
• Experience securing networks within Defence or national security environments
• Relevant certifications such as CCNP Security, CISSP or GIAC

Security Clearance Requirements

• Must be an Australian Citizen
• Must hold a current AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance
