Job summary

Aurizon is seeking a Network Controller based in Rockhampton, QLD. You will begin with a 9-month training contract to gain a nationally recognised qualification and develop a long-term career within a skilled operational team.

The role is residential in Rockhampton (not FIFO/DIDO) with a 24/7 rotating roster after qualification. We value safety, calm decision-making under pressure and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

At Aurizon, safety comes first. As a Network Controller, you'll play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of one of Australia's largest rail networks, coordinating train movements and keeping freight moving across Queensland.

No rail experience? No problem.

We're looking for people with transferable skills, a safety mindset and a willingness to learn. We'll provide the training, mentoring and support you need to succeed.

You'll initially be offered a 9-month training contract and complete a nationally recognised qualification and build a long-term career within a highly skilled operational team.

Based in Rockhampton, this residential role is not FIFO or DIDO. Once qualified, you'll work a 24/7 rotating roster of 9 shifts per fortnight.

Success in this role requires strong concentration, attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure. You'll work independently and collaboratively to support safe and reliable rail operations.

About you

Our Network Controllers come from a wide variety of industries and professions. While some have rail experience, many have successfully transitioned from defence, emergency services, mining, logistics, hospitality, retail leadership, customer service and other operational environments. What they share is strong communication skills, sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to remain calm under pressure in a safety-critical environment.
