Job summary

Public Sector People in Sydney is seeking an experienced Network Administrator for a 2-year contract with a Local Council in Western Sydney. You’ll focus on Layer 3 network issues and contribute to the SD-WAN rollout across multiple sites through 2027/28.

The role requires strong experience in multi-site deployments, network configuration and core infrastructure, plus a solid understanding of networking protocols and security.

Qualifications

• Must have relevant degree, diploma or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience as a Network Administrator in a complex IT environment.
• Experience with multi-site network deployments and SD-WAN projects.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols and core configurations.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support network infrastructure across multiple sites.
• Collaborate with network partners to remediate Layer 3 issues.
• Plan and deliver the SD-WAN rollout across sites through 2027/28.
• Perform network upgrades, configuration changes and other infrastructure work.
• Manage and coordinate network infrastructure projects as required.
• Install, upgrade and troubleshoot corporate applications with vendors.
• Administer and optimise SQL databases.
• Work with IT Manager to plan and schedule application upgrades and maintenance.
• Monitor the Service Desk and provide proactive Level 2 technical support.
• Escalate complex issues where required and ensure timely resolution.
• Contribute to stability, security and performance of IT environment.

Focus will be working with external network partners to remediate issues across the organisation's Layer 3 network environment, as well as playing a key role in the upcoming SD-WAN rollout across multiple sites through 2027/28.

The successful candidate will need strong experience across multi-site network deployments, network configuration, change management and core network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and support network infrastructure across multiple sites.
• Work with network partners to remediate existing Layer 3 network issues.
• Contribute to the planning and delivery of the organisation's SD-WAN rollout.
• Perform network upgrades, configuration changes and other infrastructure activities.
• Manage and coordinate network infrastructure projects as required.
• Install, upgrade and troubleshoot corporate applications, working closely with application owners and vendors.
• Administer and optimise SQL databases.
• Work with the IT Manager to plan and schedule application upgrades and maintenance.
• Monitor the Service Desk and provide proactive Level 2 technical support.
• Escalate complex issues where required and ensure timely resolution.
• Contribute to the ongoing stability, security and performance of the organisation's IT environment.

Do you have:

• Relevant degree, diploma or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong experience as a Network Administrator in a complex IT environment.
• Experience supporting multi-site network infrastructure and deployments.
• Strong understanding of networking, network protocols and core configurations.
• Experience with SD-WAN implementations or similar network transformation projects.
• Experience with VMware, Office 365 and Azure.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
