Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 is seeking a detail-focused Operations & Competitions Coordinator to drive tournament delivery at Sydney Olympic Park. You will coordinate match operations, training venues and workforce in a fast-moving, live-event setting.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Netball Operations & Competitions, you’ll manage logistics, documentation and protocols to ensure a first-class competition experience for players, teams and officials.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in elite sport operations or major event delivery.
  • Experience coordinating sport competitions, events or operational programs.
  • Experience delivering in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Knowledge of match-day operations (courts, timing, warm-ups).

  • Coordinate match operations, including court set-up, technical bench requirements, timing and scoring, and pre- and post-match protocols.
  • Support the implementation of and compliance with competition rules, regulations and match-day standards.

Full-Time Fixed-Term Contract to September 2027

Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 (NWC2027).

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Netball Operations & Competitions, this is an operational role for someone who thrives on detail, enjoys solving problems and understands what it takes to deliver elite sport in a fast-moving tournament environment.

A major focus of the position will be the planning and management of training venues, ensuring facilities, equipment, logistics, workforce and operational requirements come together to create an exceptional environment for players, coaches and officials.

About The Role
Competition & Match Operations
  • Coordinate and support match operations, including court set-up, technical bench requirements, timing and scoring, and pre- and post-match protocols.
  • Support the implementation of and compliance with World Netball competition rules, regulations and match-day standards.
  • Coordinate key competition documentation including operational manuals, match-day checklists and briefings for teams and Match Officials.
  • Support competition-related technology and systems, including timing, scoring, results platforms and Competition Information Services.
Training Sites & Venue Operations
  • Coordinate training site operations and venue readiness, ensuring equitable access and high-quality environments for athletes, teams and officials, including court set-up, signage, equipment and back-of-house operations.
  • Coordinate all training venue operational requirements, including hydration, medical and recovery facilities, media, transport, security, volunteers, gym and meeting-room usage, and equipment movements.
  • Scope and manage competition and training equipment, including posts, padding, technical tables, timing devices, radios and uniforms, together with inventories, logistics, venue transfers and load-in/load-out.
  • Lead on-site netball operations during tournament delivery, ensuring daily venue readiness, effective workforce coordination and timely resolution of operational issues.
  • Coordinate Netball Central activities and operational readiness, including public training sessions and its set-up as a back-up match venue, incorporating venue dressing, broadcast and broader operational integration.
Safety, Compliance & Workforce
  • Embed health and safety, safeguarding, compliance, accessibility and inclusive practices into competition and training-site planning.
  • Coordinate risk mitigation activities, incident-response protocols and daily venue checklists.
  • During tournament delivery, lead on-site teams through daily briefings, task allocation, performance management and debriefs.
Workforce & Volunteer Support
  • Coordinate Competitions workforce and volunteer requirements based on daily operational needs.
  • Lead the development and delivery of functional training materials and briefing packs for tournament staff and volunteers.
  • Manage shift rosters, task delegation, team wellbeing, and deliver briefings/debriefs for on-site teams.
About you
We Are Looking For Someone With
  • 3+ years’ experience in elite sport operations or major event competition delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating sport competitions, events or operational programs within a sporting, event or venue environment.
  • Experience supporting operational delivery in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, ideally during live events or tournaments.
  • Strong knowledge of match-day operations, including court set-up, technical benches, timing/scoring, warm-ups and post-match processes.
  • Strong operational coordination skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams, priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Experience coordinating logistics, equipment, training venues and workforce activities with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong administrative capability, including preparing and maintaining operational documentation, checklists, reports and briefings.
  • Knowledge of netball rules and international competition standards is highly desirable.
  • Applicants must have full working rights in Australia to be considered for this role. Sponsorship is not available.
  • A valid Working with Children Check (NSW) is required.
