Job summary

Austal Defence Australia (ADA) is seeking a Work Order Coordinator to manage technical design, engineering and production information into executable work orders. You will ensure clear scoping and sequencing to support project schedules and class requirements.

You’ll coordinate with scheduling, engineering and procurement to align work orders with timelines and material availability, and manage changes with version control and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• Effective communications with stakeholders and teams.
• Ability to interpret and apply technical drawings and specifications.
• Proficient with Primavera P6 project scheduling.
• Formal planning/scheduling training completed.
• Minimum 5 years in a Planning role in shipbuilding, complex manufacturing, or construction.
• Engineering qualification, Mechanical or equivalent (Cert IV).
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, design software and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and issue detailed work orders to support production with clear scopes, sequencing, hours and BoM.
• Ensure work orders meet yard standards, class requirements and engineering specs.
• Coordinate with scheduling, engineering and procurement to align work orders with project timelines and material availability.
• Manage work order changes due to revisions, non-conformances or change requests, ensuring version control.
• Capture lessons learned, risks and issues from production for continuous improvement.
• Monitor and update planning data for accurate reporting and future vessel planning.
• Review/update drawings or documentation within work packs with issue control and stakeholder notification.
• Collaborate across disciplines to support delivery and process improvements.
