Job summary

The Shadbolt Group is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our Defence team at Garden Island, Sydney. You will perform maintenance, repairs and overhauls on naval and marine equipment, applying fitting expertise to ensure safety and reliability.

You will work with an experienced team, interpreting drawings, conducting testing and ensuring compliance with Defence standards and quality requirements. A current licence and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Recognised mechanical trade qualification (e.g., Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade).
• Experience in mechanical maintenance, fitting, repairs and overhauls.
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Commitment to safety, quality and teamwork.
• A current driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining, repairing and overhauling mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors and valves.
• Undertaking mechanical fault-finding, hydraulic and pneumatic work, and shaft alignment.
• Interpreting technical drawings and completing maintenance documentation.
• Ensuring work meets Defence, safety and quality requirements.
• Working collaboratively with supervisors, engineers and fellow tradespeople to deliver project outcomes.
