Job summary

Kmart Group is seeking a National Safety Risk and Governance Manager to lead safety governance, assurance and risk management across Kmart and Target in Australia and New Zealand. This pivotal national role sits on the Safety Leadership Team to enable safer, more risk-aware decision-making across multi-site operations.

You will drive enterprise safety frameworks, data strategy, audits, and continuous improvement, with a focus on practical, scalable governance that supports the business.

Qualifications

• Experience in safety governance, risk, and compliance in a complex regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of Australian and NZ WHS legislation.
• Proven design and delivery of audit, assurance, and risk programs.
• Track record of transformational leadership and change management.
• Ability to influence at senior levels and lead cross-functional teams.
• Comfort operating in multi-site environments and turning strategy into action.
• Proficiency with safety systems and data visualisation tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the enterprise-wide safety governance framework and risk management.
• Oversee regulatory compliance, assurance, and document control.
• Drive data and digitalisation strategy to enable business outcomes.
• Direct audit programs and translate findings into improvements.
• Ensure high-quality incident and safety data reporting and insights.
• Manage safety systems and service contracts and evolve them.
• Partner with stakeholders to embed safety requirements into initiatives.
• Champion transformational change and uplift leadership capability.
