Job summary

Kmart Australia Limited seeks a National Safety Risk and Governance Manager to lead safety governance, risk management, and assurance across Kmart and Target stores, DCs, and offices in Australia and New Zealand.

You will drive framework design, regulatory compliance, incident data quality, and capability building, enabling safe, confident decision making across multi-site operations. This pivotal national role sits on the Safety Leadership Team.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in a similar safety governance, risk, compliance or assurance role within a complex, regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of AU/NZ WHS legislation and self-insurance requirements.
• Proven track record designing and leading audit, assurance, and risk programs.
• Experience leading transformational change and embedding new ways of working.
• Demonstrated leadership in health and safety at senior levels and across multi-site environments.
• Ability to translate strategy into practical, embedded changes.
• Knowledge of safety governance frameworks like ISO 45001 and ISO 31000.
• Experience with enterprise safety systems and data visualization tools (Ecoportal preferred).
• Analytical ability to convert data trends into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide safety governance framework, regulatory compliance, risk management, and document control.
• Evolve data and digitalisation strategy to enable business outcomes.
• Oversee safe work practices, policies, risk assessments, and governance reviews.
• Direct internal and external audit programs and turn findings into improvements.
• Drive incident, hazard, and injury data quality with regular reporting and insights.
• Manage safety systems, databases, and service contracts; lead evolution in transformation agenda.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to embed safety requirements into business initiatives.
• Champion transformational change and uplift leadership capabilities in safety and risk.
• Identify emerging risks and drive continuous improvement across ANZ.
