Job summary

Aligned Search partners with a large construction business to recruit a National Payroll Manager who will lead national payroll operations and governance across multiple entities. You will manage a 7-person payroll team and oversee weekly and monthly cycles for ~3,800 employees.

The role requires deep knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, enterprise agreements, and compliance, with a focus on process improvements and automation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' end-to-end payroll experience in a large, complex organisation.
• Proven experience leading and developing a payroll team.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, Enterprise Agreements, Awards and compliance.
• Experience across payroll governance, reconciliations, audits and remediation.
• Exposure to payroll transformation, system implementations or acquisition integration.
• Strong SAP payroll knowledge, with UKG, Kronos or Workday exposure highly regarded.

• Manage a team of 7 payroll professionals, driving performance, development and service excellence.
• Oversee weekly and monthly payroll cycles within a complex operational environment.
• Navigate 50+ Enterprise Agreements, Awards and diverse workforce conditions.
• Strengthen payroll compliance, governance, audit readiness and internal controls.
• Play a key role in acquisition integration, process improvement and automation.
• Contribute to major technology initiatives, including UKG Pro Workforce Management and SAP S/4HANA readiness.
