Job summary

Universities Australia is building a stronger data-driven approach to national higher education policy. This role turns complex data into clear insights, strengthens sector-wide decision-making, and leads the organisation-wide data strategy.

Reporting to the Senior Director: Policy Futures and Reform, the role shapes policy by delivering rigorous analytics on funding, outcomes, research performance and workforce needs, with visibility at the highest levels.

Qualifications

• Advanced data analysis skills and experience with large datasets.
• Proficiency with Power BI, Tableau or similar tools.
• Ability to translate complex data into policy insights for senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver a whole-of-organisation data strategy, including identifying data gaps and improving governance and literacy.
• Analyse large datasets to support economic and policy analysis and track major data releases.
• Develop compelling data visualisations, dashboards and briefings for non-technical audiences.
• Translate technical findings into clear narratives for senior leadership and policy teams.
• Collaborate with Strategy & Policy, Corporate and Public Affairs to strengthen advocacy through data.
• Engage with government, universities and researchers to inform policy submissions.
