Job summary

Siemens Australia is seeking a Protection Support Specialist to join the Electrification & Automation team in Cremorne, Melbourne. You will diagnose issues, provide technical solutions and support commissioning across Australia’s MV protection portfolio, collaborating with global experts and customers to improve performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control & Automation or related field.
• Experience with SIPROTEC 3, 4 and 5 protection relays including configuration and commissioning.
• Strong understanding of power system protection principles.
• Experience with IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, Ethernet and substation automation.
• Knowledge of MV/HV switchgear and protection systems.
• Experience with FAT, SAT and onsite commissioning.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and fault finding.
• Strong customer focus and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Power BI or AI tools advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Siemens Medium Voltage protection systems through to resolution.
• Perform fault analysis and root-cause investigations; recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with factories, Global R&D, customers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Deliver protection system engineering including design, testing, commissioning and local adaptations.
• Support project delivery and tendering with protection engineering expertise.
• Develop technical documentation and deliver training for customers and internal teams.
• Conduct periodic reviews of protection equipment performance and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with Siemens engineering standards and safety procedures.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call roster (additional allowance).
