Job summary

Arndell Anglican College invites a passionate Music Teacher to inspire students from primary through lower secondary in a faith-centred environment. You will teach curricular Music, support the Junior School Instrumental Program, and lead ensembles while contributing to a vibrant co-curricular life.

The role offers part-time 0.8 FTE or full-time hours, with opportunities to develop curriculum and collaborate across the Performing Arts department.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Education with teaching accreditation (NESA).
• Experience teaching Music across primary to lower secondary.
• Ability to lead instrument programs and ensembles.
• Strong pedagogy and classroom differentiation.

Responsibilities

Arndell Anglican College is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate Music Teacher to join our vibrant Performing Arts team from Term 1, 2027. This is a permanent role for an outstanding educator who is committed to excellence in teaching, values Christian education, and is passionate about developing young musicians from primary through to lower secondary years.

Reporting to the Head of Department - Performing Arts, the successful applicant will teach Music across Stage 2 to Stage 4, lead the development of Junior Creative Arts curriculum, support running and conducting the Junior School Instrumental Program and Strong Programs, contribute to other ensembles and performances, and play an active role in the wider life of the College.

The role is available either part time 0.8 FTE or full time.

About the Role

The Music Teacher will be responsible for fostering student learning and development across the primary and lower secondary years, nurturing creativity, academic achievement and a lifelong appreciation of music and the performing arts.

This role includes classroom teaching, instrumental program support, ensemble leadership, performance preparation and active participation in the co-curricular life of the College.

Key responsibilities include:

• Teaching curricular Music across Stage 2 to Stage 4.
• Assisting with the strategic direction, coordination and delivery of the Junior School Instrumental Program (Strings and Band).
• Tutoring instrumental students and conducting training band programs as required.
• Preparing students and ensembles for performances, productions, festivals and competitions.
• Assisting with College ensembles, musical showcases, eisteddfods and music festivals.
• Contributing to curriculum planning, assessment, reporting and program development.
• Delivering engaging, differentiated and innovative learning experiences.
• Supporting student wellbeing and pastoral care.
• Participating in camps, excursions, sporting events, homeroom responsibilities and other College activities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education (Teaching).
• Current NESA accreditation.
• Experience teaching Music in middle to upper primary and lower secondary.
• Experience supporting, conducting and leading primary instrumental programs including strings.
• Strong understanding of curriculum, pedagogy and contemporary educational practice.
• Piano accompaniment experience (desired but not essential).
