Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology in Cairns invites applications for a full-time Laboratory Scientist to join a busy diagnostic laboratory, supporting accurate patient results. You will perform routine and specialised tests across Haematology, Biochemistry, Blood Banking, STAT Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology, and handle QC/QA, equipment upkeep, and turnaround times.

We offer on-site roles with rotating shifts 0600–2100 weekdays, on-call and weekends, with training, career progression, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent)
• Experience in a multidisciplinary laboratory is desirable; on-the-job training provided for graduates
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing in a team
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Commitment to accuracy, quality standards, and turnaround times
• Shifts 0600–2100 weekdays with rotating on-call and weekend roster

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialised diagnostic testing across Haematology, Biochemistry, Blood Banking, STAT Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology
• Run, monitor, and interpret quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment
• Analyse, interpret, and report results in line with laboratory and accreditation standards
• Comply with WHS policies and procedures at all times
• Assist with inventory control and stock management
