Job summary

Qualifications

• Current Construction White Card.
• Current open manual driver’s licence.
• Relevant plant tickets or evidence of competency for machinery operated.
• Proven operating experience in civil construction or earthworks.
• Confidence working safely around people and changing ground conditions.
• Excellent attendance, punctuality and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating plant within your demonstrated competencies.
• Completing excavation, earthmoving and material handling tasks.
• Undertaking levelling, backfilling and compaction works.
• Loading, transporting or spreading materials as required.
• Conducting daily pre-start checks and reporting equipment faults.
• Following site plans, supervisor instructions and safety procedures.
• Communicating with spotters, labourers and other operators.
• Completing required equipment records.
• Assisting with general site duties when required.

About the Role

We’re seeking capable Plant Operators to support current and upcoming civil projects across Townsville. Depending on your experience and competencies, you’ll operate machinery such as excavators, Moxy articulated dump trucks, rollers, front-end loaders, graders, dozers, backhoes and skid steers/Posi-Tracks.

You don’t need experience on every machine. Whether you’re confident on one or two types of plant or bring broader operating experience, we’d love to hear from you.

Your Duties Will Include:

• Safely operating plant within your demonstrated competencies

• Completing excavation, earthmoving and material handling tasks

• Undertaking levelling, backfilling and compaction works

• Loading, transporting or spreading materials as required

• Conducting daily pre-start checks and reporting equipment faults

• Following site plans, supervisor instructions and safety procedures

• Communicating with spotters, labourers and other operators

• Completing required equipment records

• Assisting with general site duties when required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A current Construction White Card

• A current open manual driver’s licence

• Relevant plant tickets or evidence of competency for machinery operated

• Proven operating experience in civil construction or earthworks

• Confidence working safely around people, other machinery and changing ground conditions

• Excellent attendance, punctuality and reliability

• Good communication skills and a team-focused approach

• A willingness to assist with tasks outside the cab when required

Desirable

• Experience operating multiple types of plant

• A current HR licence

• Experience across roadworks, drainage or subdivision projects

• GPS machine control or final trim experience

• Additional relevant tickets and reliable transport
