Job summary

Aurizon's Gladstone Port Services team is seeking safety-focused, hands-on Multi Skilled Equipment Operators for casual shifts in Gladstone. If you hold a current HC licence and a heavy forklift ticket, you’ll join a dynamic port operations crew moving freight and supporting loading/unloading activities.

You’ll drive heavy vehicles and operate forklifts, with duties spanning pre-starts, defect reporting and daily paperwork. Casual shifts include day and night hours in a busy port environment.

Qualifications

• Must have a current HC driver’s licence.
• Must have a safe driving record.
• Current heavy forklift licence.
• Ability to complete pre-starts, defect reports and other operational paperwork.

Responsibilities

Aurizon is looking for safety-focused, hands-on operators to join our growing Gladstone Port Services team on a casual basis. If you have a current HC licence, forklift experience and enjoy working in a fast-paced operational environment, this could be a great opportunity to step into a varied role with one of Australia’s leading rail freight operators.

About the role

As a Multi Skilled Equipment Operator, you’ll support safe and efficient port operations by moving freight, operating equipment and assisting with loading and unloading activities as required.

• Driving heavy vehicle single to multi combinations to transport containerised freight.
• Operating forklifts to safely load and unload materials and goods.
• Supporting day-to-day operational requirements across Aurizon’s Bulk operations.
• Completing pre-starts, defect reports and other required paperwork accurately.

What we’re looking for

• A strong commitment to safety — always.
• Current HC driver’s licence and a safe driving record.
• Current heavy forklift licence.
• Confidence completing pre-starts, defect reports and other operational paperwork.
• Mechanical aptitude and a practical, can-do attitude.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to complete driving history, police and background checks.

Highly desirable, but not essential

• Reach Stacker ticket and experience.

This is a casual role with variable shifts of up to 12 hours, including weekends. It’s a great fit for someone looking to supplement their income, take on flexible work, or stay active in a practical port-based role.
