Job summary

Plumpton Autos in Glendenning, in Sydney's western region, seeks an experienced Motor Mechanic (General) to service, diagnose and repair a broad range of light vehicles. This permanent full-time role offers a stable workload in a modern workshop with supportive team.

You will bring a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent, at least 3 years of hands-on experience, strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills, and a current AIS eSafety check ticket.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose engine, mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and discuss findings with customers.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair or replace and reassemble engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brake and drivetrain components.
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Test and road-test vehicles after repair to confirm faults are rectified and meet manufacturer specs.

Job description

Plumpton Autos is a busy, well-established automotive workshop in Glendenning, in Sydney's west. We are seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Motor Mechanic (General) to service, diagnose and repair a broad range of light motor vehicles across many makes and models. This is a permanent, full-time position offering stable ongoing employment in a modern, well-equipped workshop and a supportive team environment.

Key responsibilities

Diagnose engine, mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment, and discuss findings with customers to determine the scope of repairs.

Dismantle, inspect, repair or replace and reassemble engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brake and drivetrain components across a range of makes and models, referring to manufacturer specifications.

Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance.

Test and road-test vehicles after repair to confirm faults are rectified and components meet manufacturer specifications, and undertake roadworthiness inspections where authorised.

Identify and advise on any additional faults found during servicing, and maintain accurate electronic job cards and service records.

Maintain a safe, well-organised workshop and tools while delivering reliable, high-quality workmanship as part of the team.

About you

A relevant automotive trade qualification – Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent.

At least 3 years of relevant experience as a qualified Motor Mechanic / Light Vehicle Mechanic.

Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, servicing and repair skills, including the use of modern computerised diagnostic equipment.

Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Current AIS eSafety check ticket.

Permanent, stable full-time employment in a modern, well-equipped workshop.
