Job summary

Abacus Finance and Property Pty Ltd in Sydney, NSW is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the mortgage finance division on a full-time basis. You will lead operations teams, drive efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and report to senior management while coordinating with lenders, brokers, and internal teams.

You will optimise processes, monitor KPIs, manage budgets, and implement SOPs to sustain exceptional service in a growing finance organisation.

Qualifications

• 3–4 years of operations management experience in banking, financial services or mortgage sector.
• Proven track record improving efficiency and service quality.
• Knowledge of mortgage/finance processes and regulatory requirements.
• Strong organisational and project management skills with multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with operational management systems and BI tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across teams and external partners.
• Ability to lead, develop and manage staff; exposure to compliance and risk frameworks.
• Desirable tertiary qualification in business, finance or related discipline.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the mortgage finance division for efficiency.
• Lead operational teams with coaching and performance management.
• Monitor KPIs and implement strategies to improve metrics and reduce costs.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to internal policies.
• Coordinate with loan processing, underwriting, and customer service to streamline workflows.
• Develop SOPs and documentation to support operations.
• Identify process improvements and lead implementation of enhancements.
• Liaise with lenders, brokers, and regulators to maintain relationships.
• Prepare operational reports for senior management.
• Manage budgets and allocate resources for operations.
• Oversee marketing promotions, events and EDMs.
