Job summary

Melbourne Modular Co. is seeking two Architectural Design & Drafting Assistants to support architectural design, external design-team coordination, building documentation and modular technical development.

You will prepare drawings, drawings packages and modular layouts, while collaborating with production teams to enhance module arrangements and feasibility. The role involves 3D modeling and renderings to communicate concepts clearly.

Qualifications

• Background in building design, architectural drafting, architectural technology or a related discipline.
• Ability to prepare residential floor plans, elevations and sections, with an understanding of construction, structural layouts and spatial relationships.
• 3D modelling and basic architectural visualisation skills are advantageous.
• Basic awareness of residential hydraulic, electrical and building-services systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and revise residential floor plans, elevations, sections, details, technical drawings and approval drawing packages.
• Organise and maintain project drawings, design files and technical documentation.
• Break down building designs into modules in line with the company's precast concrete modular product system.
• Assist with module sizes and combinations, load-bearing wall locations, window and door openings, and modular layout or combination drawings.
• Work with the design and production teams to improve module arrangements and manufacturing feasibility.
• Assist with preliminary hydraulic layouts, electrical points, lighting, switches and power outlet layouts.
• Understand service requirements for kitchens, bathrooms and plant areas, and coordinate structure, services, penetrations and installation space.
• Build 3D models from architectural plans and assist with renderings, coloured plans, presentation material and modular assembly diagrams.
• Learn the company's precast concrete modular production methods and progressively support component detail drawings, module assembly drawings and factory production drawings.
• Assist with dimensions, numbering, penetrations and connection details for wall panels, floor slabs and related precast components.

We are recruiting two Architectural Design & Drafting Assistants to support architectural design, external design-team coordination, building documentation, presentation visuals and modular technical development.

About the role

Prepare building drawings, modular breakdowns and technical coordination material, with the opportunity to progressively contribute to precast-concrete detailing and factory production drawings.

About you

• Background in building design, architectural drafting, architectural technology or a related discipline

• Familiarity with AutoCAD; Revit modelling and drafting capability is advantageous
• Basic awareness of residential hydraulic, electrical and building-services systems
• 3D modelling and basic architectural visualisation skills are advantageous
• Ability to read and understand Chinese, with strong English communication skills
• Strong drawing comprehension, attention to detail and willingness to learn about modular construction, precast components and manufacturing technology
