Job summary

Qantas Airways is seeking a MOC Duty Manager for a 6-month fixed-term role within our Maintenance Operations Centre in Sydney. You will lead engineering specialists, act as the primary escalation point, and align airworthiness with operational and commercial outcomes.

The role requires extensive leadership experience, strong decision-making, and a proven ability to balance competing priorities across Engineering, IOC Operations and Flight Operations.

Qualifications

• Extensive leadership and management experience.
• Strong decision-maker capable of prioritising conflicting demands.
• Articulate two-way communicator and negotiator.
• Committed to industrial relations, staff development and coaching.
• Sound understanding of Civil aviation regulations and related OH&S/IR environments.
• Experience/Line maintenance on company or customer aircraft or airline engineering/ planning.
• Willing to work a flexible roster for possible 7-day coverage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a non-shift team of engineering specialists to ensure ongoing airworthiness.
• Balance airworthiness, operational performance and commercial outcomes.
• Act as the primary escalation point, decision-maker and operational focal for Engineering.
• Coordinate with IOC Operations, Engineering and Flight Operations.
• Drive aircraft availability, on-time performance and AOG recovery.
