Job summary

BlackCube Labs in Sydney seeks a contract-based mobile automation engineer to own testing automation across native mobile apps and the services behind them. You will inherit and extend existing frameworks, and collaborate with test analysts and developers to cover the full quality picture beyond automation.

You will integrate automation into CI/CD and contribute to API automation for end-to-end coverage. You will work within a small squad, with flexibility on where you work from in Australia,

Qualifications

• Recent hands-on native mobile automation on customer-facing apps.
• Strong in at least one of Swift, Kotlin, Java, TypeScript or C#.
• Frameworks such as XCUITest, Espresso, Maestro or Appium.
• Demonstrated CI/CD pipeline work and automated test execution setup.
• API testing and automation, using API responses to shape coverage.
• Cross-device and accessibility testing.
• Exposure to Playwright or Selenium for any web surface in scope.
• Retail or payments background.

Responsibilities

• Build, scale and maintain native mobile automation across iOS and Android.
• Extend the existing custom frameworks rather than starting over.
• Wire automated execution into the CI/CD pipeline and own the quality gates.
• Build and maintain API automation to support end-to-end coverage.
• Generate automation results and reporting the squad actually uses.
• Run cross-device testing, plus visual UX and accessibility checks.
• Analyse defects and write them up clearly enough for developers to act on.
• Advise the squad on when regression, performance or PEN testing is warranted.

About the role

A Sydney-based contract role inside one of the digital squads, owning theautomation across the native mobile apps and the services behind them. There areexisting custom frameworks in place, including work in Maestro, that you willinherit, extend and improve. You will work alongside the squad's test analysts anddevelopers and cover the full quality picture, not just the automation layer.
