Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Area Support Officer to maintain a safe and secure environment across multiple retail locations. You’ll deter theft, patrol sites, monitor CCTV, and respond to incidents with professional customer service.

The role requires an SIA Licence and flexibility to cover varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Travel between sites is a key aspect of this mobile position.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK.
• Valid SIA Licence – Door Supervisor or Security Guarding.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage challenging situations professionally.
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
• Flexible to work across multiple locations and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong and visible security presence to deter theft and risk.
• Conduct regular patrols of store premises and ensure safety.
• Monitor CCTV and security systems and respond to suspicious activity.
• Carry out searches in line with policy and legal guidelines.
• Respond to alarms and incidents and escalate when needed.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports promptly.
• Collaborate with store teams to address security concerns.
• Provide a professional, approachable presence for customers and staff.
• Assist with directions, queries, and general support.
• De-escalate confrontational situations calmly and effectively.
• Adhere to site procedures, company policies, and legal requirements.
• Support the wider security team and undertake additional duties as directed.
