SBIA Australia is hiring a Graduate MIS Analyst to support the Finance team with standard financial reports, regulatory return inputs and performance data. This development role targets graduates building a career in bank finance and regulatory reporting, with outputs reviewed by a manager.

Responsibilities

  • APRA & ABS returns: collate data and prepare returns for review
  • ASIC lodgements: assist with preparation of lodgement forms
  • Financial statement schedules: assist with preparation of schedules and annexures
  • AuSTRAC reports: assist with standard reports on processed and unprocessed transactions
  • Daily monitoring: run daily asset and liability position reports and report exceptions
  • Fixed asset register: record additions/disposals and reconcile with GL
  • Budget support: collate budget inputs and compile them into templates
  • Data checks: perform routine KPI and financial data checks
  • Team support: provide information and assistance to team members

Key Responsibilities
  • APRA & ABS Returns: Collate data and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual regulatory returns using established templates and procedures, for review and submission by the Finance Manager.
  • APRA Queries: Extract and collate data on monthly and quarterly movements to support the Finance Manager's responses to APRA queries.
  • ASIC Lodgements: Assist with preparation of standard ASIC lodgement forms from approved financial statements, for review.
  • Financial Statement Schedules: Assistwithpreparation of standard schedules and annexures for monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including:
    • Balance sheet annexures
    • Profit and loss annexures
    • Head Office reporting pack schedules
    • Data for ABS Balance of Payments and International Investment Position (BoP/IIP) returns
  • Audit Support: Assist with preparation of standard audit schedules and supporting documents, and provide information requested by auditors.
  • Income Tax & Transfer Pricing: Collate the data and schedules requested by external tax consultants for income tax returns and transfer pricing documentation.
  • GST & PAYG: Assist with preparation of GST (BAS) and PAYG reconciliations using established templates, for review.
  • Performance Reports: Assist with preparation of standard monthly reports on key financial indicators and ratios using established templates.
  • Budget Support: Collate budget inputs from stakeholders and compile them into the budget template.
  • Asset and Liability Reports: Assist with preparation of standard currency-wise, sector-wise, maturity-wise and country-wise reports on the banking book from the MIS system.
  • Data Checks: Perform routine checks on KPI and financial data in line with established checklists.
  • Daily Monitoring: Run daily asset and liability position reports from the MIS system and report exceptions to the Finance Manager.
  • Account Coding: Check the coding of new and existing accounts in the MIS system against the coding guide and refer discrepancies for resolution.
  • Fixed Asset Register: Record fixed asset additions and disposals in the register in line with the fixed asset procedure, and perform the monthly reconciliation of the register to the general ledger.
  • AUSTRAC Reports: Assist with preparation of standard reports on processed and unprocessed foreign transactions using established procedures, for review before submission to AUSTRAC.
  • Daily Trial Balance Check: Perform the daily trial balance check against the established checklist and report unusual items to the Finance Manager.
  • Controls: Follow the controls and procedures established by management in day-to-day work.
  • Issues and Incidents: Record issues and incidents in the GRC tool and report them to the Finance Manager.
  • Risk Register: Help maintain risk register records as directed.
  • Reputational Risk Awareness: Identify and report potential reputational risks promptly.
  • Risk Culture: Uphold a positive risk culture aligned with organisational values and the risk management framework.
  • Training: Complete all required risk management training on time.
  • Work Scheduling: Organise own work schedule to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Correspondence: Draft routine correspondence appropriate to the role.
  • Team Support: Provide information and assistance to other team members.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Experience: Recent graduate, or up to 12 months' experience in financial reporting, MIS or regulatory reporting within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Certifications: Studying towards CA, CPA or another relevant certification is an advantage.
Skills
  • Accounting Knowledge: Working knowledge of accounting principles and an awareness of regulatory reporting (APRA, ASIC).
  • Data Handling: Good Excel skills and accuracy when working with large datasets.
  • Systems: Ability to learn financial and MIS systems quickly.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and care in preparing reports and following procedures.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication, including drafting routine correspondence.
  • Willingness to Learn: Keen to develop in bank finance and regulatory reporting.
Additional Information
  • Work Environment: Office-based role with interactions with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Travel: Minimal travel required, primarily for audit meetings or training purposes.
