Job summary

CITIC Pacific Mining is seeking a Mining Systems Technician to join the Operational Technology team on a permanent full-time basis. The role operates on a FIFO 8/6 roster from Perth and focuses on maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvements of mining technology systems such as Cat MineStar Fleet/Terrain, DSS, Huawei LTE and Motorola P25 networks.

You will perform hands-on maintenance of on-board Fleet Management hardware, monitor field devices, and ensure high availability of assets

Qualifications

• Two to three years of similar experience within a surface mining operation.
• Trade qualification in auto electrical, communications, electronics or IT.
• Hands-on experience using tools for hardware and cabling repairs.
• Experience troubleshooting machine on-board systems.
• Experience with a Fleet Management System such as MineStar, Modular, Wenco or similar.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, switching).
• Understanding of wireless networking (Wi‑Fi, LTE).
• Proficiency with Windows-based IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on first level support for repair and maintenance of Fleet Management System on-board hardware.
• Monitor, maintain and support electronic hardware across the operation including communications equipment and field devices.
• Maintain high availability of mining assets by inspecting, repairing and replacing faulty equipment promptly.
• Analyse equipment failure trends and suggest improvements to solutions and processes.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, especially operational teams.
• Perform work in line with site safety standards and procedures.

We are seeking a Mining Systems Technician to join our Operational Technology team on a permanent full time basis, working a FIFO 8/6 roster (8 days on, 6 days off) from Perth.

Reporting to the Superintendent Operational Technology, you will carry out day-to-day maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement across our mining technology systems, including Cat MineStar Fleet, Cat MineStar Terrain, the Cat Driver Safety System (DSS), the Huawei private LTE communications network and the Motorola P25 digital radio network.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Providing hands‑on first level support for the repair and maintenance of Fleet Management System (FMS) on-board hardware.
• Monitoring, maintaining and supporting all electronic hardware and equipment installed across the operation, which may include communications equipment, communications trailers, CCTV, sensors and any other field device used to support the mining operation.
• Maintaining high availability of key mining assets by carrying out inspections, repairs and replacement of faulty equipment in a timely manner.
• Analysing equipment failure trends and recommending improvements to existing solutions and processes.
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with all key stakeholders, particularly those in operational roles.
• Carrying out all work in line with site safety standards and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Two to three years of similar experience within a surface mining operation.
• A trade qualification, or equivalent experience, in auto electrical, communications, electronics or IT.
• Hands‑on experience using tools for hardware and cabling repairs.
• Experience troubleshooting machine on-board systems.
• Experience with a Fleet Management System such as MineStar, Modular, Wenco or similar.
• A working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, VLANs and switching.
• An understanding of wireless networking principles, including Wi‑Fi and LTE.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Windows based IT systems.

The following will be highly regarded:

• Previous experience in an Operational Technology role supporting heavy equipment and haul trucks.
• Experience with two‑way radio systems.
