Job summary

Victory Minerals in Ballarat, Victoria, is seeking a Mine Engineer to support the mining team in developing and producing from designated ore blocks. The role combines technical design and operations support, including mine scheduling and design, with a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering required.
• Underground mining experience minimum 2 years.

• Develop and execute mining methods for upcoming ore production, in conjunction with the Mine Foreman and Geology team.
• Assist with the preparation weekly plan by the Mining Foreman.
• Mine Design for development and production.

• Assist with monthly ventilation.
• Collaboration with consultants within the mining department.
• Direct meetings, reviews and interaction with Mining crews underground to ensure smooth delivery of development metres and production.

Victory Minerals Pty Ltd is a private, well-funded company that acquired the world renown Ballarat Gold mine in 2024 and has since invested approximately $125m into capital and growth of the project, significantly improving development and production at the same time. Mining is within what was historically the third highest Gold producing area in Australia (up until 1990) and consistently delivers approximately 30,000 to 40,000 ounces per annum with increased exploration rapidly growing potential for up to 60,000 to 80,000 ounces per annum.

Role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Mine Engineer.

The Mining Engineer’s role is to support the Mining team to develop and produce from designated ore blocks. This role requires a combination of technical and operational skills. Mine scheduling, Mine design and operations support are the major areas of responsibility, as are:

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Maintaining leadership safety standards within the Mine Operations Team.
• Ensuring mining standards are met.
• Establishing and maintaining a proactive safety culture.
• Develop and execute mining methods for upcoming ore production, in conjunction with the Mine Foreman and Geology team.
• Assist with the preparation weekly plan by the Mining Foreman.
• Mine Design for development and production.
• Co-ordinate any consultants work on mine design.
• Assist with monthly ventilation.
• Collaboration with consultants within the mining department.
• Direct meetings, reviews and interaction with Mining crews and technical personnel underground, on a day-to-day basis, to ensure smooth delivery of development metres and production, to ensure efficient and productive ore mining to maximize grade recovery.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

• Degree in Mining Engineering
• Previous Underground Mining experience (minimum 2 years will be considered)
• Excellent interpersonal, team building skills and organisational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills at all levels (internally and externally) are essential.
• Manual C-Class Driver’s licence
• Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Proficiency with specialist software packages (Deswik)
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise and be flexible
• Perform well under pressure, good team member
• Capable of getting along with a wide range of people in an underground and office environment
• Show respect and support for members of the team
• Completed at least 1 year of Underground experience
• Exposure to/knowledge of Ventsim
• Exposure to weekly scheduling processes
• Able to prioritise task depending on important
