Job summary

Rio Tinto is a global mining company seeking an experienced Mine Controller to monitor and manage mining equipment from a central control room on a 24/7 operation near Brisbane.

Reporting to the Supervisor of the Operations Centre, you will coordinate haulage, respond to system alerts, maintain site communications, and operate fleet management systems remotely as part of a safety-driven team.

Qualifications

• Experience in mining mine control room preferred.
• Exposure to fleet/logistics environments is acceptable.
• Must hold a current driver's licence and have reliable transport.

Job description

Through Rio Tinto’s partnership with Chandler Macleod, we are seeking an experienced Mine Controller.

This role is supporting a 24/7 operation, and the successful candidate will be required to work a
rotating roster including Day, Night, Weekend and Public holiday work, with the roster patterns
as follows:

5/5/4 - 5 days on, 5 days off, 4 nights on, 5 days off, 2 days/3nights, 4 days off.

Your task is to monitor and manage mining equipment from a central control room.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations Centre, and working in a collaborative and exciting environment, you will:

• Coordinate haulage
• Respond to system alerts and operational issues
• Maintain communication with on-site personnel ensuring production targets
• Use specialised software and control systems remotely

Your duties will also include:

• Strong commitment to safety
• Operation of fleet management systems with a range of multiple fleet types and targets
• Engage with key stakeholders to enhance daily, weekly and monthly targets and strategies
• Effective administration and information collating
• Comply with business fatigue management and drug and alcohol policies

About You

• Prior Mining/Experience in Mine Operations control room environment (Preferred), or similar exposure in Fleet or Logistics Environments, or high-volume operational environments (Logistics, Warehousing or Aviation)
• Fleet Management System experience is advantageous
• Understanding of service delivery and value chain impactsAbility to multitask and identify risks
• Efficient activation of emergency response and coordination or other high pressure critical tasks.
• Continuous improvement and collaborative mindset
• Hold a current drivers licence and have reliable transport
