Job summary

Find A Babysitter is seeking an immediate-start babysitter for a 7-year-old child in Melbourne. The role is part-time, casual, or contract-based with weekday 1700–1900 shifts and occasional Saturday work.

A permanent resident or citizen, or someone based in Melbourne long-term, is preferred. We require WWCC or Police clearance and the ability to commit to hours that may extend beyond 4–12 hours on weekdays.

Qualifications

• WWCC or Police clearance required.
• Australian resident or visa allowing 12+ months of employment.
• Based in Melbourne for the foreseeable future.

Responsibilities

• Pickup the child from Teamkids at 1700.
• Prepare and heat dinner for the child.
• Tidy bathroom and change pee pads for the family’s Chihuahua.
• Fold laundry if time permits and supervise brushing teeth.

Education

Certificate III / Diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent

Primary school teaching qualifications (registered with state authorities)

First Aid Certificate HLTAID004

Job description

~ I'm looking for an immediate start: part-time, casual or contractor babysitter for my 7 year old for my weekday afternoon shifts 1700-1900. Prefer a permanent resident/ citizen or if on a temporary visa, someone who will be based in Melbourne for the foreseeable future
~ Must have WWCC or Police clearance
~ We already have a morning babysitter but will need a morning babysitter from January 2027
~ I am a single mum and a shift worker. My shift is 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off so hours would be 4-12 hours on weekdays. Sometimes Saturdays as well
~ Pickup my son from Teamkids at 1700, clean bathroom/change pee pads for our Chihuahua, put away dry dishes, heat dinner (already prepared), supervise brush teeth, fold laundry if enough time
~ If you have no car, you're welcome to sleepover and I will pay for the hours that I'm away for work
~ School pickup is 24 minutes by tram or 30 minutes' walk from South Yarra to Prahran

~ Here are the absolute minimum hours for October, but usually runs into more hours if you have the availability:

Here are the requirements for an In-home care Educator/ provider

• * In Home Care educators are required to be skilled, qualified and dedicated child care professionals.
• * The main role of an educator is to provide children with a variety of age appropriate, play-based activities that encourage each child’s development, learning and life skills.

To become an In Home Educator you must hold a relevant qualification in one of the following:

• * Certificate III, a diploma or a degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent qualifications that have a major focus on Early Childhood Education.
• Or
• * Primary school teaching qualifications of educators registered with state-based Teacher Regulatory Authorities are also deemed as acceptable qualifications
• Or
• * Certificate III level qualification in a relevant course or be working towards a Certificate III qualification and provide documentary evidence

Additional requirements:

• * Be at least 18 years old
• * Be an Australian resident, permanent citizen or have the relevant visa to allow employment on a continuous basis for 12 months or more
• * Hold a current Nationally coordinated Criminal History Check
• * Hold a current working with children check (Blue Card) relevant to the state the family resides in
• * Have a current First Aid Certificate HLTAID004 or equivalent
• * Have a PRODA number – Register for a PRODA number
• * You will need to register with an approved In Home Care Service Provider.
