Job summary

East Coast Car Rentals is seeking a mid-level Frontend Developer to join our Southport office on the Gold Coast. You will help build and evolve large-scale web applications using Vue 3, Next.js, React and TypeScript, delivering responsive, accessible interfaces for customers and staff alike.

You will collaborate with Backend and Design teams to implement reusable components, integrate REST APIs, and contribute to frontend standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years commercial frontend development experience.
• Strong experience with Vue 3 (Composition API).
• Experience with Next.js and React.
• Solid JavaScript and TypeScript skills.
• Experience integrating REST APIs and working with backend services.
• Strong understanding of responsive design and modern CSS practices.
• Experience using Git and code review processes.
• Ability to work in an agile team and communicate effectively.

Behind the scenes, we're investing heavily in technology and building modern platforms in-house on AWS. We're looking for a Frontend Developer who enjoys building clean, scalable user experiences and takes pride in writing high-quality code. Working closely with the Head of Software Engineering and collaborating with backend developers, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and improving the applications our customers and staff use every day.

What you'll bring

• 2 + Years commercial experience in a Frontend Developer role within a collaborative software development environment.
• Strong experience with Vue 3 (Composition API).
• Experience with Next.js and React.
• Solid JavaScript and TypeScript skills.
• Experience integrating REST APIs and working with backend services.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, component architecture and modern CSS practices.
• Experience using Git, pull requests and code review processes.
• A problem-solving mindset and commitment to building maintainable, high-quality software.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small, agile team.

Nice to have

• React Native development experience.
• Exposure to testing frameworks such as Vitest, Cypress or Playwright.
• Experience with Tailwind CSS.
• Familiarity with AWS services such as S3 and CloudFront.
• Experience working with Jira and Bitbucket.
• Interest in modern AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Claude.
• Understanding of SEO and emerging AI search optimisation practices.
