Job summary

A client-side project management and advisory consultancy in Sydney seeks a Project Manager to join their team. You will work with chartered engineers, quantity surveyors, commercial managers, safety advisors and environmental scientists to deliver across health and aged care, education, infrastructure, industrial and commercial sectors.

You will manage a caseload of up to 6 projects at a time, reporting to a Senior Project Manager, with oversight from the Head of Project Management.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of project management in a consulting environment.
• Solid experience on capex, fit-out or refurbishment projects.
• Comfort navigating statutory approvals and relevant legislation as part of project delivery.
• Experience, or willingness to learn, working within live, operational environments.
• Confidence to engage with clients, contractors and consultants.

Job description

A client-side project management and advisory consultancy, delivering across health and aged care, education, infrastructure, industrial and commercial sectors, is looking for a Project Manager to join their Sydney team.

Founded over a decade ago and built around a genuinely multidisciplinary model, in house project managers work alongside chartered engineers, quantity surveyors, commercial managers, safety advisors and environmental scientists, rather than being left to run projects solo.

The business runs 40 to 60 projects at any given time Nationally.

The portfolio

Aged care and education will likely make up most of your caseload, but it is far from one type of project. Over the last decade the team has delivered RAC room and common area refurbishments, building and remedial works, fire safety upgrades under fire orders, HVAC and building services replacements, lift replacements, civil and retaining wall works, road and external infrastructure, solar installations, technology and IT upgrades, gym fit-outs, corporate office refurbishments, hazmat removal, specialised dementia care upgrades, and small to medium developments, among others.

Projects sit across a range of statutory approval pathways (exempt development, CDCs, DAs) and applicable legislation (including the DBP Act, RV Act and RAB Act), you will need to get comfortable navigating these as part of the role.

Scale varies from smaller works around $200,000 through to multi-million-dollar projects and broader programs of work, complex fit-outs on the books have run up to $50 million.

Almost all of it is delivered in live, operational environments, which brings its own layer of staging, logistics, stakeholder management, safety and keeping operations running throughout construction.

You will manage a caseload of up to 6 projects at a time depending on complexity, reporting to a Senior Project Manager, with oversight from the Head of Project Management above that.
