Job description

We are seeking an experienced Microservices & AI Technical Lead to provide technical leadership across a major business application transformation program.

The role will provide architectural and engineering leadership, influence system builds and technical decisions, guide the adoption of AI across the software delivery lifecycle, and ensure effective knowledge and capability transfer throughout delivery.

The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing enterprise microservices and event-driven architecture foundations, while embedding modern AI-enabled engineering practices across the organization.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Providing technical leadership and architectural authority for the design, governance and evolution of cloud-native, microservices-based and AI-enabled platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security and business transformation objectives.
• Leading the establishment of modern engineering and AI delivery practices, including AI-enabled SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability, automated testing and platform engineering standards that support secure, scalable and reliable service delivery.
• Driving technology modernisation and platform adoption, including microservices enhancement, containerisation, enterprise systems integration and reusable architecture patterns that improve scalability, maintainability and operational resilience.
• Building organisational capability and technical maturity through knowledge transfer, engineering governance and leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
• Promoting engineering excellence, innovation and continuous improvement across technology and delivery teams.
• Influencing architecture and engineering decisions and ensuring technical solutions align with broader business transformation objectives.

Technical Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years’ Azure & Cloud Experience – Minimum 5 years of strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud‑native application/platform design, implementation and enterprise‑scale cloud environments.
• Microservices & Event‑Driven Architecture – Strong experience designing and implementing microservices and event‑driven architectures, including APIs, integration patterns and scalable, secure and resilient enterprise platforms.
• AI Engineering & AI‑Enabled Delivery – Demonstrated experience with AI/ML solutions and AI‑enabled software engineering, including enterprise AI, semantic search, operationalisation of AI capabilities and responsible AI practices.
• Software / Platform Engineering & DevSecOps – Strong technical experience across SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, security‑by‑design and platform engineering, ideally with container technologies such as Kubernetes, AKS, OpenShift, EKS or GKE.
• Technical Leadership & Modernisation – Proven experience leading enterprise technology transformation and cloud modernisation, providing architectural/technical direction, influencing engineering decisions, leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging senior stakeholders
