Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for cloud-native, microservices-based and AI-enabled platforms.
  • Influence architecture, engineering and technology decisions across complex enterprise environments.
  • Establish modern engineering and AI delivery practices across the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive adoption of DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and platform engineering.
  • Support the adoption of AI-enabled software development practices.
  • Drive technology modernisation and platform adoption.
  • Enhance microservices and event-driven architectures.
  • Support containerisation and integration of enterprise systems.
  • Develop and promote reusable architecture and engineering patterns.

Job description

Laneway is recruiting on behalf of a Federal Government department for an experienced Microservices & AI Technical Lead to support a major business application transformation program.

This is a senior technical leadership role focused on cloud-native architecture, microservices, AI-enabled engineering and modern software delivery practices.

The successful candidate will provide technical direction across complex technology environments, influence engineering and architecture decisions, and help establish modern delivery practices while building capability across multidisciplinary teams.

The Opportunity

The program is establishing enterprise foundations across Microservices and Event-Driven Architecture, while embedding AI-enabled engineering practices across the software delivery lifecycle.

You will play a key role in shaping how modern technology is designed, delivered and operated, with a strong focus on scalability, security, reliability and engineering maturity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for cloud-native, microservices-based and AI-enabled platforms

About You

You will bring extensive experience across modern enterprise technology environments, with strong capability in:

  • Cloud-native architecture
  • Microservices and event-driven architectures
  • Enterprise AI engineering and AI-enabled solution delivery
  • Software and platform engineering
  • DevSecOps and CI/CD
  • Automated testing and observability
  • Security by design
  • Technology modernisation and transformation
  • Enterprise architecture and technical governance
  • Leading multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Senior stakeholder engagement and communication

You will also have experience with AI capabilities such as semantic search, machine learning solutions and responsible AI practices.

Experience across the following would be highly regarded:

  • Kubernetes, OpenShift, AKS, EKS or GKE
  • Container platform automation, governance and workload management
  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
  • Observability tooling
  • Coaching geographically dispersed teams
  • Technical capability uplift and engineering maturity
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain Baseline security clearance and therefore a Citizen.
