Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District invites applications for a Staff Specialist in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at St George Hospital and Sutherland Hospital. This permanent part-time role (0.6 FTE across Microbiology and ID) includes clinical service, teaching, research and quality improvement activities.

Applicants must be registered with AHPRA or eligible and hold fellowships in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (or equivalent).

Qualifications

• Currently registered or eligible for registration with AHPRA.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Infectious Diseases and Fellowship in Microbiology or equivalent specialist recognition.
• Commitment to basic, applied or clinical research and/or medical education and staff training.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with strong communication and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call services in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities.
• Support continuous professional development and maintain high standards of clinical performance.
