Job summary

TasTAFE is seeking a Technical Employee - Metals to support our Metals training team at the Alanvale campus. This hands-on role focuses on logistics, ordering, stocking and inventory management to ensure classrooms and workshops are equipped for high‑quality training.

Under general direction, you will move and store tools and materials safely, maintain an organized workspace and assist with keeping equipment in good working order.

Qualifications

• Experience in metals, warehousing, stores, or a similar hands-on environment.
• Great mechanical fitting skills with knowledge of operating lathes and milling machines.
• Great organisational skills—you know where everything goes and how to keep it that way
• Confidence using ordering systems, tracking inventory, and managing stock
• Ability to lift and move equipment safely and follow WHS protocols
• Good communication skills and a team‑oriented attitude
• A proactive, reliable approach—you see what needs to be done and do it!

Responsibilities

• Order supplies and tools for the Metals training programs
• Receive and unpack goods, stock items in designated storage locations
• Keep inventory accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for trainers and students
• Assist with maintaining workshop equipment and keeping learning spaces clean and safe
• Work collaboratively with teachers to ensure classrooms are well-prepared and stocked
