Job summary

Glencore’s McArthur River Mine in the Northern Territory seeks a Trainee Mentor – Metallurgy Production. Reporting to the Superintendent – MET Production, you will deliver hands-on training, coaching and mentoring across Ore Preparation, Concentrator, and TSF/water management to help trainees develop safe, efficient operating skills.

You will foster a strong safety culture, monitor progress, and support program development while aligning with Glencore values.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated operational experience within a mineral processing or metallurgical environment.
• Knowledge of safety systems and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical training, coaching, and mentoring to Metallurgy Production trainees.
• Ensure trainees are adequately supervised and supported throughout their development program.
• Promote and reinforce Glencore SafeWork Practices, including Fatal Hazard Protocols and Life Saving Behaviours.
• Monitor trainee progress and training compliance requirements.
• Conduct workplace observations, inspections, and competency assessments.
• Support the development and delivery of training programs, procedures, and work instructions.
• Assist in building a strong safety culture through mentoring, coaching, and positive leadership.
• Ensure incidents, hazards, and safety observations are reported and managed appropriately.
• Complete training records, reports, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Identify opportunities to improve training systems, operational practices, and workforce capability.
• Foster a positive team environment aligned with Glencore values.
• Support operational teams to achieve safety, training, and production objectives.
